USS Holland (AS-32) was a United States Navy submarine tender that served from 1962 to 1996. The ship was named after John Philip Holland, an Irish-American inventor who is credited with designing and building the first submarine that was commissioned by the United States Navy.
The USS Holland was built in La Jolla, California and was commissioned on 22 September 1962. The ship was primarily used as a support vessel for US Navy submarines, providing repair and maintenance services.
During her service, the USS Holland participated in numerous deployments and operations, including the Vietnam War and the Gulf War. She earned numerous awards, including the Navy Unit Commendation, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the National Defense Service Medal.
The USS Holland was decommissioned in 1996 and is currently in reserve status.
